I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Buddy

We're happy to tell you that Buddy has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Buddy a 9 month old (ish) black lab who, we think, might be mixed with Great Pyranees (a pyrador, as they're called) because his paws are absolutely giant. Otherwise he’s just a very big lab with even bigger paws. Buddy came to BTAS when he was found on someone's property in Johnston County. He refused to engage much with the owners and stayed outside under their shed until they were able to lure him out with food. Unfortunately, he could not stay with them and remained outside for a couple of weeks until he found a foster home to take him in. Having dog friends in his foster home changed him amazingly and he immediately brightened up and began to play.

Buddy has all of the things everyone loves in a lab- he's more of a companion then he is a pet. He's loyal, laid back (minus the puppy energy, which he still has lots of), smart, and a complete love. His face alone will capture your heart.

He's great with cats, kids, and absolutely loves other dogs. He would do best with having a dog friend (or two or more!) in his forever home.

Because he is so large (currently 60lbs and growing taller each day) he needs someone who has the patience and time to train him not to jump on people or counters, and what to do when he becomes overly excited. We've been working on redirection and settling down with a chew toy or bone.

Buddy is also working in trusting men. When he came to us he was extremely hesitant to be around any men at all, but as the weeks have progressed he is learning that there are nice men out there and he has started approaching the man of the house for scratches and pats. Otherwise, he makes a point of staying at a distance. To his foster mom, though, he is attached to her hip- staying outside of the door of any room she goes to without him and always keeping her in his line of sight.

He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and already neutered!

Buddy is as lovable and gorgeous as they come. His rambunctious puppy-ness will fade soon enough, but his wonderful demeanor will last forever.
