We rescued the dog from a girl that had her in a wire cage with a cement floor in her backyard. We asked if she was okay with cats and kids to which we were told yes. Turned out she had NO shots, was not spayed, was NOT good with cats or small animals, and was seriously anxious and stressed out. She had been left outside since last March with no toys or care and we got her shots all up to date and got her fixed. She did NOT acclimate well to our small dog which is now terrified of her because she has pounced in her and is now having to be kept separated indefinitely. Knocked over my two year old and stood over her terrifying her so she’s not allowed around her. Barks at neighbors and when walking is terrified of other people, cars, and anything that moves. Hour long jobs didn’t seem to help with her activity levels much at all, and when we had to leave her with our trusted vet/boarding facility they said she did not do well and had nervous diarrhea. We travel a lot and this is a huge issues. I trained her to sit, lay down, shake, go to her bed (crate), potty schedule, walk on a leash, and given her toys and treats and nothing is helping. At this point she has stressed out cat out so bad he is throwing up hairballs almost daily, and is afraid to come downstairs because anytime she hears the cat she shakes the entire crate and scares him off. My animals and small child are stressed and afraid of her, and I am overly stressed out with trying to rehome her properly and get her the care she badly needs. I’ve reached out to other shelters and rescues and I was suggested here as my last option before the county shelter. She is having to be crated 24/7 unless she is outside. I badly want her to find somewhere that can help her get the help she needs. She is a sweet dog with a lot of trauma and we just can not keep her in our home anymore.
