Gizzy is very much a one-person dog who defines loyalty! Typically shy and avoidant with new people and places, and will hide when nervous, she does very well with cats and other dogs, and is fully house trained. Gizzy will need a home with another small dog, around her own age, who can show her it is safe to be there. She would do best with someone who is able to be at home with her through the day as she currently has a person who works from home.
When she is comfortable, Gizzy adores laps, follows her people from room to room, will roll over for tummy rubs, and asks to be picked up for snuggles! She is currently sleeping in a dog bed or a crate in the bedroom but is incredibly interested in sleeping on the bed, and prefers to nap on the couch. In her foster home, Gizzy walks well on a leash, which will help her shed some of her 10 pounds, as she is incredibly interested in food and snacks! She is learning to enjoy being out in public; although car rides remain difficult for her. Gizzy has been spayed recently and is up to date on required vaccines.
This sweet girl would do very well in a household with adults who are patient and allow her to become part of the family at her own pace.
Moving can be scary! Because of her tough past, it will likely take Gizzy several weeks (or months) to fully adjust to a new home and a trial visit may be recommended prior to adoption.
