Griffin is a terrific soon-to-be "tri-pawd" looking for a furever home! This stunning guy had been in an underfunded shelter when we picked him up, and had not been able to receive medical care. They suspected he had been hit by a car, and the urgent vet confirmed that he has a badly broken leg that will require amputation. Despite all he's been through, Griffin is an incredibly sweet guy with so much love to give! He has the most gorgeous auburn and black glossy coat, a long fluffy tail, and a beautifully expressive face with eyes that kindly gaze straight into your soul. With a mane that makes you wonder if he's part lion, Griffin is always having a good hair day! We estimate he's around one year old, and weighs ~60 lbs.
Griffin takes treats and food in the sweetest and most gentle way, and has done great during his first introductions with children, cats, other dogs, and livestock. You wouldn't know he only has use of three legs based on the way he gets around! He has quickly mastered short flights of steps, walks and even runs with little trouble, and is comfortable being picked up when needed. He complains for a few minutes when left alone before settling down to sleep, and benefits from having calm music or other background noise on to help him relax. A home with another dog to show him the ropes and be a playmate would probably help him build confidence! He is learning leash walking skills and basic commands with positive reinforcement, and not to mention, he's totally housebroken and has no chewing/destructive behaviors! Griffin loves nothing more than to cuddle and be petted, and can't wait to find that special someone who will love him forever.
