I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Mark Anthony (now Buddy)

We're happy to tell you that Mark Anthony (now Buddy) has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Mark Anthony was an owner surrender due to no fault of his own.  When I visited the shelter I couldn’t help but be drawn to his sweet, yet terrified eyes. It was so loud in there, so many dogs wanting to be let out.

I brought Mark Anthony to a quiet room where I could hold him until his shaking would stop.  He placed his neck on my neck, tail began wagging, and his fears and trembles dissipated.

He was quiet the whole ride home, just looking at me with loving eyes.  As soon as he entered our backyard he laid himself down at my feet for belly rubs and would lick my hand.  He was generous and gentle with his kisses. I could easily pick him up as he wasn’t sure if he was allowed inside our home.  I believe he must’ve been kept outside quite a bit. If you would like him to sit in your lap, just pick him up and he’ll feel so secure and safe.

Mark Anthony is a 6 month old lovebug. His Mom is a Boykin Spaniel and his Dad a German Shepherd Mix. At the shelter they estimated he will grow to 40lbs. He was so easy to bathe in our laundry room sink. He sat there quietly and soaked up the attention. He takes treats gently by hand, is sweet with our children, and doesn’t mind our four cats at all!  Even if a cat came over to eat his food, he just let the cat eat it.  If a cat came over to sniff him, he’d just sit there. Mark Anthony is dog friendly, too.  At the shelter he shared the kennel with another pup that he didn’t know.

At night he likes to sleep on the floor or in his doggie bed next to his foster Mom’s bedside. He sleeps all night long, I’ve yet to hear anything from him. We do have a crate that he will sometimes have naps in so I just leave the door open for him to enter or exit as he wishes.  If I leave the house I will put him in his crate and secure the door.

This cutie loves to be outside and has medium energy. He indulges in chew bones and likes when someone tosses a tennis ball for him to fetch. He enjoys company (maybe another pup!), but if you have to go inside, he’ll relax, watch the birds, and take in the fresh air.

Mark Anthony is almost completely potty trained and is learning to walk on a leash.  I think having another pup to show him the ropes would benefit him. He is learning to tell me when he needs to be let out, but he’s very quiet, so I usually let him out several times a day. I’ve only heard him bark twice. Occasionally I've had to redirect him to his bones to chew. He seems to prefer them over chew toys.

This super sweet, affectionate boy wants nothing more than a person or family to call his own.
