Mittens is a sweet mama cat who has a mysterious background.
She, her newborns, and Vivian, another mama cat (with her newborns), were all stuffed into an Amazon box, the top was sealed, and the box was left in someone's horse pasture. It was a cold and rainy day and the wind tumbled the box through the field. The donkey was curious about the box and the donkey's owner wondered why it was of so much interest to the donkey. Luckily, she put on her raincoat and boots and went out to investigate. When she got there, she saw a paw sticking out an opening in the box.
This kind-hearted woman kept the cats and kittens in her barn and cared for them for as long as she could. She then contacted BTAS to help her find them home.
Mittens is a sweet mama cat who is a little wary of humans but who loves to be pet. She isn't keen on being in a lap yet, but once she feel comfortable, that may change.
Mittens has not had much exposure to the other cats in her foster home yet, but when they do end up getting close, she has seemed quite interested and docile. I expect she will be friendly with other cats, and possibly with dogs, too.
